Iron Bowl

Friday we all watched the Iron Bowl together. Let's just say it was not quiet around the Skipper household. Lucy managed to take a good nap during the beginning and took a nap in a big bed for the first time. She slept really well there. She woke up to quite the festivities and loved every minute. She had no idea why we were all dancing and blaring music, but she ate it up! We really had a great time and some of us, Bess and Jason, had to turn in early because of all of that fun. (I have incriminating pictures and will save them for blackmail later.) Ben, wasn't too far behind. War Eagle!! Oh, I love you Cam!
Napping in the big bed!
A celebratory sucker. Dancing with Aunt Bess.
So proud of her blue tongue! I know her hair is wild, but she had been dancing pretty hard for a while.
Giving Uncle Ben fist bumps. We hated to see him leave!!

So sweet.

Thanksgiving on the Farm

For Thanksgiving we headed to Southeast Alabama to celebrate with the Skipper family. We LOVE going there. Not only do we get to spend time with family, but we get to spend the day on the farm and just play all day. The weather was awesome and I don't think that we went inside the whole time. Every year there is a new addition, so the kids had a blast. This year we were missing two cousins because they are both having babies. Next year will be a house full. We just love going to the farm. The family is awesome and it is just so relaxing.
She had to get a little piano time in with Uncle Jason before we left. This was one of her favorite activities. Jason is great at playing. Spending time outside and riding the mule with Daddy. He said she kept asking to go faster.
We played in the leaves.

We road the power wheels. She LOVED this!

Phillip's cousin had a baby a couple days before, so some of us had a cigar to celebrate (not me). Welcome baby Whit!
Then we walked out to look at the cows. She didn't really like them up close. She actually just wanted to go see the dogs.
Then it was time for the hay ride. She loved it. We sang Christmas carols and looked at the stars. It was so much fun!

Showing some major love to her cousin. So, Lucy may be a tad bit aggressive. I did kiss Phillip first. I guess she gets it from Mommy.

The cousins. Lucy is itching to hold that baby, but waiting very patiently.

The Skipper family!

Thankful for Friends

We had a great at Thanksgiving! We even got to see our awesome friends, Meredith, Hays and Margaret Anne. It is always fun to go to Phillip's family's for the holidays and a bonus is getting to see the Latimers. Now the girls are old enough to play together, which is so fun to watch. They basically ran around Meredith's brother's house like wild women. It makes me sad that we aren't closer and that don't get to do that more often. One day! We sure miss these guys. Her brother and sis-in-law are always so nice to let us crash for a few hours. We love seeing them too! Their family is a ton of fun and her brother has quite a jean collection. Miss you guys!!!
Fast friends! Mere, Me, and Sandi

Lucy had fun trying out the horse. She was a little wild with the thing.

We love you, even if you are a little odd. :)

Thanksgiving Treat

So I tried to do a little cooking project with Lucy today. Well, it went ok. I got the idea from Nick Jr. and it didn't quite turn out like the ones on tv, but do they ever. We traced her hands and then I used the hand and cut it out of sugar cookie dough. It took a lot of time so I only made one cookie sheet of the hand prints. I used the rest of the dough to make round cookies. When they cooled I let Lucy decorate them. It didn't go as well as I had envisioned. She wasn't really into it and mostly just wanted to eat the icing. I used regular white icing and died it the colors I wanted. Those also didn't turn out exactly like I was thinking. I think that everyone will like them anyway. I'm glad we tried.

The dough hand prints. Lucy showed off what we used to make the cookies with.

Making her masterpieces.

The final product. No, Lucy did not do these. I probably should blame them on her though.

Phillip's Birthday was HOT!

Today was my amazing husband's birthday. He is officially well into his thirties. We took a day trip to the Tabasco plant on Avery Island. It was really great! The scenery was beautiful and the plant was pretty cool. It was a perfect day trip, only about 2 hours away, but on the way back traffic on I-10 was at a stand still and we almost never got home. We were one of the few people that thought visiting the plant would be a grand idea, which is funny because this kind of think always happens to us. We have been talking about going for a while and I am so glad we did it. The day was perfect. It is amazing what they can do with Tabasco. They produce about 40,000 bottles of the stuff a day. Each pepper is hand picked, smashed up, and aged for three years before it is actually turned into the sauce. This is also the only place it is made. I totally recommend the tour to anyone that is close by. When we got home we played at the park and ate some Mexican, always a good birthday choice. I was out of candles so we opted for a tea light to put on top of the cupcake. Hey, it worked. Happy Birthday to the best Daddy and husband around!
Welcome! Us and one other car decided to take a tour today. More people eventually arrived.

Phillip tried the Tabasco ice cream and I tried the Tabasco Coke. The ice cream wasn't for me, but the Coke wasn't too bad. Lucy disagreed with the Coke. Her reaction was hilarious!

Happy Birthday Phillip!!!

Team Edward

For those of you who don't know, the Twilight series is filming its final movie, Breaking Dawn, here in Baton Rouge. The cast is supposedly staying right down the street from where we live. No sightings yet, but I will let you know. Lucy and I planning on running into Robert Pattinson very soon. Our favorite cupcake place, Sweet Wishes, is getting in on all of the excitement too. When we went to pick up cupcakes for Daddy's birthday we saw this:

so of course Lucy got one. It was delish! The lady said the actors hadn't been in the shop yet, but some people that work for the movie came in and bought some to take to everyone. They also had Team Jacob cupcakes, but I wasn't about to get one of those. I told them they need to keep a tally to see who sells more. She thought Team Edward was winning...of course!

Thanksgiving Feast

Today was Lucy's Thanksgiving Feast at school. We were early, because they told me the wrong time on Tuesday, so we killed a little time and played with her friends in her classroom. I'm not going to lie, she wasn't really happy when we pulled up to the school. 1. She got up at 4:30 this morning, ready to go. 2. She almost fell asleep on the way over. 3. She thought I was going to drop her off. Once we got over that, she was so excited for me to be there and have lunch with her. She played with her friends, danced, and was a general show off. I loved seeing her with her little friends. They did such a great job putting it all together and I finally got to bring home some of Lucy's art work! I loved every minute. The school really put together a nice feast with great decorations. The kids were so excited to have their parents. Can't wait until the next party!

Some of the Baby Birds.

Dancing with her friends.

Getting ready to go to the lunchroom to eat our feast! (Don't you love the little boy on the right. That is his 'cheese' face. Ha!)

The table decorations. I even had a place card. It was so cute!

The kids enjoying their Thanksgiving meal. Not sure what Lu was doing here. My Turkey! With her teacher Ms. Sarah! She loves her!

Proud Mommy. Lu kind of goes blank when I take a picture. Hope that changes.

Traitors

Tonight we went to an LSU basketball game. Don't worry Auburn people, we were cheering against both teams. Lucy loved the music. She was a dancing fool. She also was very concerned with Mike, the tiger. She followed his every move. But, when we chased him down, she was scared to take her picture with him. Lucy wouldn't look at him because, we like to think, she was hoping it was Aubie. Phillip got some tickets from work and it was a lot of fun. I hope he gets more.
