Road Trip to Orange Beach

Today Lu and I took a road trip to Orange Beach to have lunch with my great friend Amy. I didn't realize how close we were to OB. It took no time to get there. It was great to catch up with Amy and the waitress accidentally brought two bloody mary's, so I had to make a sacrifice and drink it. Darn! Thanks for meeting us for lunch. We had a great time! Too bad mullet toss is tomorrow, LAS was dying to toss a mullet!

Saying cheese for the camera!
This is how she wanted to drink her milk this afternoon. "Look Ma, no hands." She would go play and then run over and lean down to take a sip. It was so weird.

Some of My New Favs

1) Excuse me, but have you ever seen a cuter bathing suit. So what if it cost more than I would pay for my own. So what if Daddy didn't want her to wear a bikini (easier to change a diaper). So what if you aren't from the South and don't 'get' the importance of a smocked bathing suit. Surely you can agree that it is possibly the cutest you have ever seen.

2) Memories! I took my whole year of blogging from 2009 and put it into a book. This blog is a way to share pictures of our life (Lucy) with our family and now we have it in hard back. Thanks Mal for showing me this. I hope that I can do this for many years to come and keep a good record of our life. It was so easy and not really expensive. I think that it turned out great. The pictures are a little small, but that is the only complaint. I made mine here.

You can pick your cover and the color.

NOLA

This past weekend Phillip and I had a get away to New Orleans. His parents came to our house and watched Lu. It has been a long time since we have had a vacation together. We didn't really know what to do with ourselves. We did a lot of walking and saw a lot of craziness. What else do you expect in New Orleans. We went to one of the oldest jazz bars on Friday night. Not only was the jazz bar old, but so were the people in it. We were the youngest by about 20 years. Phillip loves a "good experience." Saturday we walked, took a carriage ride, and walked some more. My senior prom date and his wife took us to a great restaurant called Mat and Naddies. It is amazing! The new "Real World" is filming there also, so they drove us by the house. Also, amazing! When we got home there was a shooting outside of our little B & B. No one was injured, but at least 7 shots were fired. The people got away. The scary part was that we were walking home right when it happened. I am so glad we didn't leave any earlier. We had a great time, bullets and all!
The Queen Anne hotel-- scene of the crime. Our room was on the top right.

Listening to jazz at the Palm Court

Jackson Square

I won $11 and cashed out! We used our winnings to take a cab instead of the slow street car.

The Real World House...horrible picture. We had to take it fast because security was sitting right there. Crime Scene in front of our hotel. You can see the white markers on the ground marking the shell casings.

Happy Easter

We had a wonderful Easter weekend. We attended a beautiful service on Sunday and then had a pretty relaxing day. Lu loved her Easter basket. She got really excited to see it and go through everything inside. Her Great-Grandmother gave her the beach chair and she loves to sit in it. She also loves to carry it around the house, which is not an easy task. It was a lot of fun watching her get excited! She fell asleep on the way home from church so we had to stay in our church clothes for a while in order to get some Easter pictures. It is hard to get pictures when it is just the two of you. Like on our honeymoon, there is a picture of Phillip standing by something and then a picture of me standing by it. It looks like I went to Jamaica alone. Anyway... hope everyone has a great week!

Wow! Look what the Easter Bunny brought me.

Trying out the beach chair.
Timer photo on the hood of a car. That is why it is crooked and everyone is doing something different. This was the best one.
Running wild.

They were giving each other kisses. So sweet!

She hates dirt on her hands. She wanted me to get it off.

Aunt Bess and Uncle Jason sent Lu an Easter surprise. She wore the shirt all night. It says "This is how I roll" and has a tricycle. So cute!

Loves to make a seat out of everything these days. At least it keeps her occupied while I cook.

A Hunting We Will Go

Today Lu had her first East Egg Hunt. My Friend, Janet, and I set up a hunt at a local park. A couple of our other friends joined us. All of the kids were pretty young, so we didn't think they were going to jump right in there and get the eggs. LAS did get the hang of it though. We have been trying to teach her how to put her toys away at home and I think that helped with the putting the eggs in the basket thing. It was so fun to watch the kids. We had a great time. Mimi and Pops were here this weekend to help. After the hunt we went to Bass Pro Shop to get our picture with the Easter Bunny. She had the same reaction to the bunny as she did with Santa: shear terror. We ended up taking a family picture because she was not having it. I guess she has an aversion to grown men dressed up in costume. Can't blame her. Then we headed to Fair Hope for lunch and to walk around. What a great town! We had a blast today!

Oh! There's one.

In the basket.

What?!?
All of the kiddos. For some reason she loves to sit on Oliver's lap. The poor boy. He is never going to be able to walk if you keeps doing that! She backs up with her bottom poked out and takes a seat. It is hilarious.
With Pops.

Screaming with the bunny. Not a problem last year; she slept through it.

Dad and Pops thought it was funny to watch her dance on the bar. Not funny. Daddy is really encouraging her.
Here is Lu showing off her egg collection...
