Memorial Day Weekend

Warning: Long post with lots of pictures.
We have been in St. Mary's, GA visiting my parents for the week. They have a great neighborhood that has a nice pool and golf course, so we made a vacation out of it. Lu had a great time seeing Mimi, Pops, and Mema (my grandmother). We did so many fun things: like, put a baby pool on the back porch.

The adults enjoyed it, as well.

Saturday my best friend from high school, Gina, came and spent the weekend with us. That night the neighborhood had a steak dinner and movie by the pool. Sounds like a retirement community, but it's not. It was a lot of fun.

So cool with Pops.

They set up a movie screen and showed a movie. We didn't last too long, but enjoyed it while we were there.

Eating popcorn and taking in a movie with Pops.

Our Memorial Day parade. My mom would sing "It's A Grand Ole Flag" and Lu would march with the flags. If you could have been a fly on that wall.
Somebody loves Gina!

Happy Memorial Day. We cooked out and LAS wore here Memorial Day outfit from Momma M. She also found a new love for Mardi Gras beads. She was actually a little obsessed with them.

She loves to sit and this little doll chair was just her size. She carried it everywhere and loved to take a seat.
After dinner we went to get ice cream. I think that she liked it!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Catchin' Some Rays

Today Lu and I met some friends at "Mommy Beach." That is the nickname for a little area of beach on the sound that doesn't have waves. It was great! Let me just tell you that my child has no fear. She held my hand until we got to the water and then let go and walked until she went under. I let her get her head wet and she was absolutely not scared. I can't decide if this a good thing or bad thing. Her head went under the water a couple of times and the only time she fussed was when we had to leave. Do beware that in the water are little fish that continuously bite you. I felt like I was getting one of those weird pedicures where the fish eat off the dead skin from your feet. A couple of times I actually jumped and yelled, because it hurt. Also, a few swans swam up. Not really something you expect to see at the beach. All in all, we had a great time and are pumped to do it again; maybe tomorrow!
Ready to go.

I would hold her out of the water by her feet. She LOVED it!

Chillin' with her pal Anderson.

The swans, or duckies, as Lu likes to call them.

Have You Seen What the Lu is Cookin'

We surprised Lu with a new kitchen this weekend. We were going to wait until Christmas, but I found this REALLY good deal on this kitchen, that I love, on Amazon. I love it because it is wooden and RED! Isn't it cool. Phillip and his Dad did a great job putting it together for us. Lu pretty much hasn't left the kitchen since she saw it.
We also went to a family wedding this weekend where we were able to practice our dance skills. We basically had to drag the child off of the dance floor. At one point, the lead singer was singing to her. It was hilarious. She provided much entertainment, even scrapped her knee from all of her dancing.
With Dad at the wedding.
Cuttin' a rug on the dance floor.

And then, for some reason, she thought it was hilarious to put her blankie over her head and walk around and walk into things. We just don't question it anymore.

Bounce With Me

Yesterday we tried a new fun place, In Motion. It has a couple of bouncy houses and toys for the kids to play with. It is pretty new and still needs a little work, but the kids loved it. I am so glad that Lu is old enough to play in the bouncy houses now. She loves them. Falling down and bumping into things doesn't seem to bother her too much. We might try this place again this summer. Got to think of some things to keep us busy!

Look at all the fun to be had.

Bouncing in the jump castles with her friends.

Caging a Wild Animal

First off, I know I haven't blogged in a while but I have a good excuse. Both of our computers had the "blue screen of death" and my camera was full. I had no where to dump my photos, so I feel like I have just been sitting here.

Now, we have a wild animal on our hands and her name is Lucy. She has more energy than I could imagine. I will remind her of this when she is a teenager and wants to sleep till noon every day. Phillip was deathly afraid that, because she is so talented when it comes to climbing, she was going to escape from her crib and break something. We decided to get the crib tent. I kind of feel bad when I zip her in every day for naps and 'nigh nigh', but she honestly loves being in it. She reaches up and asks me to put her in. When I say ask I mean she says 'nigh nigh' and holds her arms up. She is really saying a lot of new things these days. Since she seems to like it, it does make me feel less like I am putting her in a cage and more like I am protecting her from herself. Does anyone else have one of these? It is completely safe and actually goes all the way under the mattress.
This is why she has the tent. Every day we were testing our limits.
Loving it!

The dress my mom made for her. That look says "I dare you!"

A Great Weekend for a Mother

Saturday we woke up and got our things together to head to the beach. No oil yet, so we thought we better take advantage of it while we can. Sure hope they can figure things out before that nasty stuff makes it to our shores. Lu does not love the sand. She was actually kind of prissy about it. Daddy worked really hard to make us a sand castle. I think that she will warm up to it. She eventually liked the water, only if Daddy was holding her. The waves scared her a little bit. The last time she saw the ocean she was only about 4 months old, so, let's be honest, she doesn't really get it. We do look forward to taking her much more often.

Daddy was working hard.

She finally got up enough nerve to go check out the water.

Not really liking the sand.

After the beach we cleaned up, ate some lunch, and then got ready for a birthday party. Our old neighbor turned one. They had a fish fry and a ton of kids for Lu to play with. We had a lot of fun. Sure wish we still lived over there, minus the tiny house. Merritt was ready for cake!

Birthday boy and his bubbles.Playing on the putting green. Daddy was proud!
Then we went and had ice cream. This was the first time we have taken her for ice cream. She just had some of ours and REALLY liked it. Don't think we should make a habit of it, but I do look forward to taking her again.
She even had on her ice cream outfit. How appropriate!

Getting Our Feet Wet

They recently renovated a park downtown and it has a great fountain for kids. It is getting so hot outside, so we decided to check it out. I wasn't sure how Lu would like it, but she squealed so loud when she saw it. Our friends met us out there and we had a great time. This will definitely be a summer time staple. A couple of things about these pictures make me really excited. 1) her suit -I have been waiting for her to be able to wear it. 2) her flip flops- They are from Target and the cutest things. I love her little feet in them.

These fountains are the best. Do you have anything like that where you are?
We watched the birds while we waited for our friends.

Don't you wish you knew what they were talking about.

Stepping on it.

Taking a little snack break.
