First Haircut

Thursday night we headed to Birmingham. Phillip had a meeting Friday morning so Lu and I tagged along. I think we were there for about 12 hours total. We are trying to sell our house, so there is a lot to do. Since we left after he got off work, we had to stop for a quick dinner. What better place than Waffle House. Lucy is a big fan.
First Waffle House experience.
Friday we spent most of the morning at the house trying to take care of a few things so it will sell. Let's just hope it sells fast! Then, I took LAS to get her first haircut. She barely has enough hair to cut, but they have this cute kid's salon and I was dying to take her there. They definitely talked about me when I left. She did great and didn't fuss one bit. Very proud of her.
Seriously, where is the hair?

The smock says "Sassy Diva". Kind of appropriate.

Even got a blow dry. She wasn't quite sure about that.

After our haircut we met Meredith and Margaret Anne for a quick lunch. Lucy is saying cheese, but I don't really know who she is saying it to. It was fun to see those girls!!

Then I dropped some magazines off at the Congleton's. Christian (middle) just had her tonsils and adenoids out. Mommy needed some reading material.
We then headed to ATL to visit our sis and brother-in-law. Lu was either tired of listening to us, or it was too bright. Either way this is how she slept for part of the trip. Crazy girl!

It's Hot

So, we need to play in the water. Today we went over to play with some of our oldest friends. I have known Danielle since elementary school and Lu has known her twins, well, since they were both in the belly. They had a great time. It is always fun to see them and try to cool off. Thanks for having us.

15 Months Old

LAS is 15 months old. I can not believe how fast time has gone by. Really, it is amazing. How does she learn so many new things, so quickly?! Lu is talking up a storm. She has a lot of words, too many to name, and most of the time I can understand what she is saying. I emphasize that "I" can understand her "most" of the time. I am around her 24-7 so I know what word she is trying to say. It is pretty amazing. Some times she puts two words together, but this is a very new skill. Of course she is climbing everywhere and on everything. Lu has been promoted to the next level is Gymboree play and in music. She follows directions and truly understands what we are saying. Guess we better watch our language in traffic! This is probably my favorite age thus far. LAS was not the best baby and cried a lot. Now we have so much fun together. She blows kisses, gives kisses, and is just down right sweet. We have always had issues with sleeping, but the past month has been great; 8-7. Of course on the night of her 15 month birthday she refused to sleep and now I am exhausted. We are keeping our fingers crossed it was just a fluke. Lu has the biggest personality and is so friendly with others. She is going to be a great girl, we can already tell. Everyone always comments on how happy she is.
(Please keep your bow in your hair. Thanks.)

Beachin' It Up, Before It's too Late

When we got home from vacation (I am putting up pictures from our week) we decided to check out the beach. We want to take Lu as much as possible before the oil tells us we can't any more. While we were away it was supposed to have made land fall. There are tar balls all over Pensacola Beach, not no actual oil yet. Still pretty gross. That didn't seem to stop the hundreds of people who were trying to enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Seriously, I still can't believe this is real. There is nothing like the beaches on the Gulf Coast. It is truly SAD. I think about all of the animals and people that will be affected. Do something, quick!

Testing the waters, only on the Sound side.

The ocean side- you can see the black line of tar balls on the beach. Pretty gross.

Didn't seem to bother these people.

Better take a picture while we can. (Is my finger in an electric socket? Check out the hair.)

And this is why the poor child has to be zipped in her crib. And this is from the outside.

Four Years of Wedded Bliss

Today is our 4th wedding anniversary. Why does four sound so much longer than three? So much has happened and I can't imagine going through any of it with out Phillip. I am so lucky. He helps me so much with Lucy and is an amazing Daddy. He is so thoughtful and always surprises me. Even for our anniversary. He set it up with my parents and we had a night away in downtown Jacksonville. We ate at an AMAZING restaurant and just talked. Don't know the last time we did that. We had sooo much fun and remember all of the things we have done together. It is nice to have a refresher. I recommend it to everyone! (Don't you hate having to take pictures as a couple?)

The River Walk in downtown Jacksonville. This was a weird car they had on display.

My gift: trashy magazines to read by the pool, even a special "Eclipse" edition. He is so good to me. (PS-Mal I am done reading them and I'm saving them for you :) )

Dinner at B B's. So good!

Charleston Aquarium

I used to live in Charleston and that is where Phillip and I got married, so since we were as close as we are going to be for a while, we made a trip up. They also have a pretty good aquarium, and we wanted to take Lu. Again I dressed Lu in a themed outfit. I felt like she should wear something with fish on it if she was going to see fish. Is that weird? We were able to see a lot of friends and have dinner with my cousin and his wife, Will and Amy. She was my matron of honor in our wedding, so she is more than just my cousin's wife! It was such a great day. We miss everyone soooo much and would love to live there again. I am just glad we could visit. Thanks for playing hooky guys!Phillip and Scott trying not to smile. Lucy and Charlotte wanting to hold hands.

Kim and her sweet twinkies! They loved the aquarium!

Andrea, my college roommate, and Kim. All of our kiddos!

You should have heard the squeals while she was watching the fish swim by. The best thing ever!

We then went to the touching tank and promptly left. Lu broke two rules: she picked up the sea urchin and it went straight for her mouth, and dropped the conch that you see and chipped it's shell. Ooops. Maybe she was too small for that exhibit.

Me (horrid), Stacy (carrying 'The Situation' as I like to call it), and Gina

Site of our first date, above. Our 4th anniversary is tomorrow! Below is where we had our wedding reception. We ate dinner across the water. Our wedding was such a blast. We left on a boat!!!
We ate dinner with Amy and Will and stupid me didn't take a picture. Next time you better be ready!

Jacksonville Zoo

On Tuesday of our trip we went to the Jacksonville Zoo. It is soooo nice. One of the nicest zoos there is. Lu loved seeing the animals and even got to feed the giraffe his breakfast. She squealed so loud, I am surprised she didn't scare them. I had made her an outfit, this may sound crazy, to go to the zoo in. I know, a little much, but she finally got to wear it to the zoo. We were afraid she might get mixed up with the zebras. Ha! We had such a fun time and even got to see one of our old friends and her little girl.

Lucy LOVED the giraffe and feeding it!
Jill and Reese feeding the baby.

Ok, if you know Don Skipper (Grandaddy), or don't, this looks just like him! Spitting image! New screen saver!

We rode the train. It did not go well. We lost a pacie, she screamed, I screamed, Daddy stayed very quiet, and we didn't see many animals because of the above.

She loves her daddy!!!
Mema and Mimi enjoying the trip, kind of. Sad that we put Great Grandmother to work pushing the stroller. Don't judge me.

And we are done. Just wanted sit in the middle of the walkway and eat her snack. We left after this. She fell asleep very soon after!
