Happy St. Patrick's Day from the O'Skippers

Knowing that St. Patty's day was fast approaching I had nothing for LAS to wear. I came up with an idea and bought some fabric. I wanted it to be something that she could wear a lot, so I didn't want anything with shamrocks or leprechauns. (Leprechauns kind of scare me anyway) I didn't not do the monogramming, although my machine does do it. I can't figure it out for the life of me. We just had a normal day; music class and playing. There was no chance we were going to get pinched. I also tried to get a little creative with my photography, so excuse the photo shoot. She loves putting her money in the bank. Thanks Aunt Bess and Uncle Jason for teaching her the importance of saving for her future!

You can really see her green eyes here.
Look at all of my teeth. I have about 10.
We weren't expecting it to be so cold out today. Where is spring?

Green milk... maybe a little over-kill on the St. Patty's Day stuff!

The Zoo Makes Me Feel Better

It turns out LAS had Roseola. It is a virus that starts with an extremely high fever and is followed by a rash when the fever breaks. She fit almost all of the symptoms; lack of appetite, fussiness. She is much better now and finally slept through the night again last night. We haven't had much sleep since last Thursday. S o Saturday night we just hung out. It was a great family night. Playing with her friends.

Drinking through a straw! I am so excited that she has learned how to do this. Although that is 100% juice, wired.
Eating a popsicle to make her feel better.
We skipped out on church Sunday, because I didn't want Lu to be around the kids in the nursery, and we went to the zoo. It has just reopened and we have been excited about taking her there. On the way we stopped by our friend's house who just had a baby last Monday. We picked up the big sister and took her with us. The new Mom and Dad needed some rest, not sure that they got any though. Gracie was so good and we would be glad for her to join us any time. We had a great time and I think Lu really liked seeing the animals. She would just point and laugh at them. She especially loved to watch Gracie feed the ducks.
She wanted to put on Daddy's shoes. All ready for the zoo.
Gracie sharing her animal feed with Lu. Gracie loved to feed the goats.
We loved the giraffe.

Riding the train.
The chimps would do sign language back to you.
Sunning hippo.

Too Cool for My One Year Appointment

Well, we were supposed to have our one year well baby appointment today, but Miss LAS decided to get a 103.8 fever last night. We went to the doctor today and, instead of shots, the doctor just checked her out. Everything looked good. No ear problems, throat problems, or chest problems. They said that it is probably just a virus and to come back Monday if the fever is still there. So, instead of going to my parents' house this weekend, we will be taking it easy at home. It is amazing how much energy she has with that kind of fever. Today it was still 102. Since we didn't get the full visit I don't have all of her stats, but I will put up what I know.
Getting some fresh air on her bike. She really thinks she is hot stuff and wears the glasses the entire time. Phillip and I gave her the bike for her birthday. It converts into a tricycle later. She absolutely loves it!
LAS you are 1 year old and this is what you are doing...
* You weigh 20 lbs 4 oz.

* You climb on everything!
* You walk/run everywhere you go.

Sharing Our Gifts

For Lu's first birthday we asked guests to bring a new or used toy to donate, instead of gifts for her. People were so generous and today we had our big delivery. We decided on The Ronald McDonald House. It was bitter sweet taking the toys there. Just knowing sick little girls and boys were there and their families and my healthy one year old was sitting in my car. I know that the children will enjoy all of the things and really felt like this was the right place to give. The Ronald McDonald House is a such a wonderful place. They are actually in the process of building a new one here, so it will be even better. I can't wait to show LAS these pictures when she is older and maybe make it a tradition. She also did get some wonderful presents from her friends as well. Thanks so much for making a difference in a little person's life!
Ronald greeting us

Toys making it to the house.

Happy to be sharing her toys with other boys and girls!

Lu did enjoy one of her birthday gifts today. A chair of her very own. We got it from Target. They are on big time sale right now. Gotta love that!

Party Like You're One

Our cupcake is turning one!
Saturday was Lu's first birthday party! It was a blast. She had so many friends and family come and celebrate with her. The kids were all so great. I don't think I heard any cries or saw any tears. They all played really well together. We had plenty of food and cupcakes, which I was worried about. (People don't rsvp anymore, evidently) I did make the banner. I got the idea from here. It is just card stock and scrapbooking paper. You just buy the bag of letters. I did make the giant cupcake. It is just regular icing, no candy shell. (Thanks Laura for having that much faith in my cooking abilities! HA!) I did also make the cupcake that fit over her high chair. That was very easy and I just used felt that I got from JoAnns and a hot glue gun. I think it cost about $7 to make. I love sharing these ideas with you guys. I never think much of them, so I am glad you like. Who knew I would be domestic and crafty. I sure didn't think I would be making a high chair cover and giant cupcake when I was hanging out at Bodega back in the day! The birthday girl!

All of the kids playing! Everyone was so good!

Pinata time!

We tried to teach her to blow out her candle, but it didn't work. Mommy had to help.

Daddy got in on the cake too!
Tooting her horn. Thanks Christian!

Loving her doll from the Congletons.
Thanks for driving all this way. You guys are the best friends!!!

My Aunt Angie gave her the coolest candle. You burn it every year until you are 21. I think she is going to really get excited about this tradition.

This is what I used to make her giant cupcake. I borrowed it from Mallory. I just used a box of cake mix and regular icing. It was super easy.

Doin' a Little Jig

Recently Lu has really been dancing up a storm. She loves all types of music, but is partial to a little blue grass. Let's hope she didn't get her dancing skills from her mom!
