Strike a Pose

A couple of weeks ago we had some family pictures taken. I am sooo happy with how they turned out. It is exactly what we wanted. I thought I would share some with you. If you live in the panhandle or will be visiting you definitely need to look at Mirabel Photography. They are the nicest people and we really enjoyed working with them. They are extremely reasonable and, as you can see, take amazing pictures. Here are some of my favorites.

Crawfish and a Mother's Day Surprise

Today we braved life outside of the Skipper-hood and went to the crawfish boil. Thank goodness we were all feeling better! Nothing worse than a stomach bug that won't leave. Phillip's good friend from home called and said they were checking it out, so we thought we would join. First thing I had to do was to change Lu into her crawfish attire. Yes, she has crawfish attire. We have been waiting for just the right moment to wear it. Lu loved the music, the people, and especially meeting the Herndons. None of the Skippers felt their stomachs could handle crawfish, so we just watched.
Notice the crawfish on her dress. Really, I think they are lobsters.

Really breaking it down on the dance floor. We couldn't keep her off of it.
Mr. Herndon and Lu. This one is for you Grandaddy.

Ok, if you are a mother to me or Phillip stop reading this now. If not, please enjoy. The Mother's Day surprise is not crawfish or Phillip without his shirt on. He He! Here is an easy Mother's Day project you can try. Tonight we made hand towels with Lu's prints on them. I just used paint that I already had and bought the towels from Target. They came in a pack of 4 so I made one for myself. I just wrote on the bottom with a Sharpie. They probably could have looked a little better, but I still think they are cute.
Doesn't love to have her hands dirty.

Finished product. Ready to hang in the kitchen.

Out of Commission

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have had a stomach bug since Tuesday and now the rest of the household is infected. Believe me, there has been nothing photo worthy. Just say prayer we are all better soon. The walls are closing in on us!

Road Trip to Orange Beach

Today Lu and I took a road trip to Orange Beach to have lunch with my great friend Amy. I didn't realize how close we were to OB. It took no time to get there. It was great to catch up with Amy and the waitress accidentally brought two bloody mary's, so I had to make a sacrifice and drink it. Darn! Thanks for meeting us for lunch. We had a great time! Too bad mullet toss is tomorrow, LAS was dying to toss a mullet!

Saying cheese for the camera!
This is how she wanted to drink her milk this afternoon. "Look Ma, no hands." She would go play and then run over and lean down to take a sip. It was so weird.

Some of My New Favs

1) Excuse me, but have you ever seen a cuter bathing suit. So what if it cost more than I would pay for my own. So what if Daddy didn't want her to wear a bikini (easier to change a diaper). So what if you aren't from the South and don't 'get' the importance of a smocked bathing suit. Surely you can agree that it is possibly the cutest you have ever seen.

2) Memories! I took my whole year of blogging from 2009 and put it into a book. This blog is a way to share pictures of our life (Lucy) with our family and now we have it in hard back. Thanks Mal for showing me this. I hope that I can do this for many years to come and keep a good record of our life. It was so easy and not really expensive. I think that it turned out great. The pictures are a little small, but that is the only complaint. I made mine here.

You can pick your cover and the color.

NOLA

This past weekend Phillip and I had a get away to New Orleans. His parents came to our house and watched Lu. It has been a long time since we have had a vacation together. We didn't really know what to do with ourselves. We did a lot of walking and saw a lot of craziness. What else do you expect in New Orleans. We went to one of the oldest jazz bars on Friday night. Not only was the jazz bar old, but so were the people in it. We were the youngest by about 20 years. Phillip loves a "good experience." Saturday we walked, took a carriage ride, and walked some more. My senior prom date and his wife took us to a great restaurant called Mat and Naddies. It is amazing! The new "Real World" is filming there also, so they drove us by the house. Also, amazing! When we got home there was a shooting outside of our little B & B. No one was injured, but at least 7 shots were fired. The people got away. The scary part was that we were walking home right when it happened. I am so glad we didn't leave any earlier. We had a great time, bullets and all!
The Queen Anne hotel-- scene of the crime. Our room was on the top right.

Jackson Square

I won $11 and cashed out! We used our winnings to take a cab instead of the slow street car.

The Real World House...horrible picture. We had to take it fast because security was sitting right there. Crime Scene in front of our hotel. You can see the white markers on the ground marking the shell casings.
